It's an interesting coincidence that Wal-Mart cuts a large number of jobs just as Pres Obama gets his Porkulus Bill passed. Maybe it's not, Wal-Mart probably knows that this Bacon Bill isn't going to help the economy and they are preparing for a deepening recession.
It's probably shaking up NW Arkansas mayors who have always relied on Wal-Mart tempering the threat of a recession in NW Arkansas. Everyone probably sighed with relief on the news that Wal-Mart reported a sales gain in January. I sure would like to know what Wal-Mart Chief Executive Mike Duke thinks about the Bacon Bill and what he thinks people should be doing to survive it's implementation.

Wal-Mart probably thinks about the bailout the same way that Wall Street looks at it.
We have a lot of comparisons between this time and the great depression. During FDR, we saw programs like the CCC and WPA which provided work for many, but also gave us places like Devils Den.
This time around, the bail out program seems more inclined to expand the Federal Government. However, many of the programs that FDR espoused were later declared unconstitutional. I don't hold my breath hoping that will happen today.
Governor Jindal is keeping $3.7 billion dollars of stimulus money...thank you larry and genee michelle norbert for serving as couriers for the blackmailing of the administration to keep the secret that Bill Clinton had a son whose life was ruined in S. Louisiana as trade for political support leading to his election (twice).
