Dixie Chicks on Patriotism

It would appear that the Dixie Chicks have no desire for an American audience. You would think that they'd learn to keep their mouths shut if they want to entice the Country Music fans.
Emily Robison
"A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism."

"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don't see why people care about patriotism."
Ok, the Dixie Chicks don't understand patriotism. It even appears that they hate patriotism. How dare people honor and love their country! The Dixie Chicks have a problem. Patriotism is one of the core values in Country Music. Insulting Bush is one thing, but insulting Country Music is another.
