Eating Your Vegetables
Yup, that's broccoli Toby is eating. You could have knock me over with a feather when I caught him sneaking some from my plate (my fault for leaving it unguarded). So now when I cook it I save a little for him. Hey, veggies are good for cats too! I did find out that Toby isn't unique. Other kitties like broccoli.
Cats are so distinctive, each with their own personality. I have always had cats, most of them having being dumped. I can remember all of them, and their unique personalities. Given a choice, I would much rather have a cat than a dog.
Currently, our house has 3 cats (we lost one a bit ago to cancer) and 2 dogs. It does make going on a vacation a bit of a challenge, but the house sure would be quiet without them.
I favor cats also, mostly because they are a lot easier to take care of. I'm able to leave them alone for several days. I can't do that with the dogs. I either have to take them with me or board them. Boarding is expensive. On the other hand, it sure is nice to have a dog accompany you on a hike. Makes you feel safer.
You do have a point. However, I doubt if I would feel safer with either one of our dogs on a hike. One is a Pom, the other is what is called a Chinese Powder Puff.
The closest our cats have been to a hike with us is when we have walked our neighborhood. One cat would follow us where ever we went, then follow us back home.
