Tax Update

Kudos to Alderman Don Marr for insisting that the data supporting a 2 mill property tax provide by city staff be reviewed. (Story) The revised data allowed the City Council to lower the tax to 1.3 mills. I noted Mayor Coody's comment "Anyone who tries to budget exactly what they need, they’re always going to be negatively surprised at the end of the year." Translation: I want to have an excess of money in the budget. I always need more money because I like spending your money.
