National Laboratory Week

Today begins the celebration of National Laboratory Week. This week is in recognition of approximately 280,000 medical laboratory professionals and pathologists. We are the people you rarely see but always hear your physician talk about. You know, we are sending this to the "lab" or we got your results from the "lab". We are the people who work in the "lab". We provide the critical testing your doctor uses to accurately diagnose, treat and monitor your health. I have been a cytotechnologist for nearly 20 years and I still find it fascinating to be able to diagnosis cancer or pre-cancer by looking at cells through a microscope. I've probably had over 300,000 patient's test pass through my microscope. Amazing!
